Mezzo-soprano Katie is a Scotland based former Scottish Opera Emerging Artist and alumnus of the National Opera Studio in London. She currently sings under the tutelage of Catherine Wyn-Rogers. Katie also attended the University of Glasgow (BMus Hons), the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (MMus with Distinction), and at Operastudio Vlaanderen in Belgium (PG Dip with Distinction).

Katie has appeared as Romeo in I Capuleti E I Montecchi for Pop Up Opera, Shoushan in Tchouhadjian’s Gariné at Grimeborn, and Mercedes in Carmen at Nevill Holt where her performances all received high praise. In March 2016 she performed a concert performance taking the title role in Carmen at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh, and made her debut as a guest soloist at the Royal Festival Hall in London. She covered Aurelio in the Siege of Calais for English touring Opera in 2015, and in the same season toured a new commission of Waxwings- a 3 singer opera designed for children and young adults with special needs. Scottish Opera’s 2012/13 50th Anniversary season saw Katie perform in roles for the company spanning over 100 shows, including their critically acclaimed new production and UK tour of G&S ‘Pirates of Penzance’ in collaboration with D’oyly Carte.

To date, roles for Scottish Opera include 3rd Witch Macbeth, Zerlina (cover) Don Giovanni, Edith Pirates of Penzance, Flora and Annina La traviata, Second Lady (cover) Magic Flute, Boletta (cover) Lady from the Sea. She also performed on the Scottish Opera Highlights tour. In 2013 Katie also made her debut as Olga in Eugene Onegin with Opera Bohemia in the Edinburgh Festival. Katie has performed concerts, chorus, cover and small roles for Garsington Opera, Charles Court Opera and has made a regular appearance at the Tête à Tête Opera Festival over the past 4 seasons in new operatic works. Oratorio soloist experience includes Prokofiev Alexander Nevsky in the Usher Hall in Edinburgh, alto soloist in Stravinsky Les Noces touring across France, Haydn Nelson Mass, Mozart Requiem, Mozart Solemn Vespers, Handel Messiah, Bach St John Passion, Bach Christmas Oratorio, Vivaldi Gloria and Verdi Requiem. Acting credits include an appearance as ‘Nurse Wallace’ in Iain Burnside’s Radio 3 Drama A Soldier and a Maker in Summer 2014.
Recent engagements include 2nd Lady in the Magic Flute for St John Opera, Olga in Opera Bohemia’s revival of Eugene Onegin, and one of six voices collaborating in Scottish Opera’s new commission The 8th door. Katie has been grateful from support as her training has progressed over the years from Creative Scotland, The Scottish International Education Trust, The Winship Foundation, The South Square Trust, The Hope Scott Trust, The Robertson Trust, the Christopher Ball Trust, The Kathleen Trust, The Dewar Arts Award, The Cross Trust, The Worshipful Company of Glovers, and the John Mather Trust through Scottish Opera.
